Ken MacDonald – General Manager

Ken is responsible for all aspects of the customer experience at Smart IP, including system implementations, order fulfillment, customer service and technical support. Amongst his many attributes, Ken has a proven track record as a senior leader with extensive hands-on business management and technology experience. Prior to joining Smart IP, Ken enjoyed an extensive and highly successful 27 year career at Bell Canada. Having literally started in the “mail room” at Bell in 1981, Ken assumed a technical role where he quickly progressed through the ranks. For much of the past fourteen years at Bell, Ken has held progressively senior management positions in Bell Gateways division, eventually becoming the General Manager Gateways Ontario Operations. In this role he was responsible for the delivery of over $500m of revenue annually with a team of 700 management and unionized employees. Additionally, Ken has experience in revenue assurance, operational process development and management, call centre management, information technologies and contract administration.

Michael Solecky – Vice President of Sales

Michael Solecky is responsible for the day to day leadership and direction of Smart IP's Sales Team serving and supporting our customers. Bringing over 30 years of Telecom experience to the team, Michael has an extensive understanding of the telecommunications industry and has a diverse background that has allowed him to gain a great understanding of the marketplace. Prior to his 12 years at Smart IP Michael held various positions in Sales, Call Centre Consulting and Sales Management with Bell Canada.

Tara Ali – VP of Finance

As VP Finance, Tara manages the Accounting and Finance operations of Smart IP and its affiliates. She brings a wealth of experience to her role having spent over eight years in the banking and manufacturing industries prior to telecommunications where she has now spent another twelve years. Prior to her present role served as Controller of Xentrax Contact Centre Solutions Inc., another very successful Canadian technology corporation. Tara received a Bachelor of Business Management from Ryerson University and is a member of the Certified General Accountants of Ontario. Tara’s drive for accuracy and simply “getting it done on time” underscores her ability to conduct the financial affairs of Smart IP and it’s affiliates to further growth and customer responsiveness. 

Jeff Stevens brings over 15 years of experience in financial management and development in the communications sector to Smart IP. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer for Remark Telecom. Jeff also held the position of Vice President of Finance for Modular Telephone Interface and was a key player on the management team that grew the company from $9M in annual revenues to over $25M annually in 3 years, with customers across the country in both the private and government sectors. Prior to serving in the communications sector, Jeff began his career as a founding partner of an independent regional accounting and business development firm. Jeff began with studies at Humber College, Sheridan College, the University of Toronto, and the Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario. A leader on many executive projects and departments for Smart IP over the years has enabled him to lead many initiatives in finance, technology, administration, and human resources. His eye for detail and enthusiasm for all things creative has enabled a natural transition from finance to marketing which continues to help Smart IP grow and prosper.

Ian McMaster – Director of Business Development

Ian is responsible for the day to day leadership and direction of Smart IP's business development and client support. Bringing over 20 years of Telecom experience to the team, Ian has an extensive understanding of the technology industry and offers a diverse background that has allowed him to gain a great understanding of the marketplace. His past experiences have ranged from technical product engineering through to operations with his most recent roles being focused on Sales and Marketing. He is able to deliver superior support to his team enabling them to deliver excellent service to our customer base of accounts. Immediately prior to joining Smart IP Ian was responsible for Ontario Sales Operations for the direct to market arm of Bell Canada servicing the mid market business sector. Prior to his 15 years at Bell Ian was a key contributor to the interconnect business and part of the family of companies that now make up the heart of Smart IP.
